BANCORY BAY BREAKS MAIDEN IN FINE STYLE

Promising 3yo gelding BANCORY BAY broke his maiden on Wednesday in fine style at Apaim Park Bendigo, the Nursery of Champions.  The win built on his three earlier starts where he consistently showed promise of much better things to come.

By Champions Sire FASTNET ROCK out of Group One winning mare OOHOOD this 3yo has a bright future as he easily chased down the odds on favourite DANCING DOLLY who had established a 4 length advantage on straightening. BANCORY BAY jumped away well and settled well int he small field, one out one back.  Approaching the 500m point the favourite set sail for home and made this into a strong race.  Angled to the outside before the turn BANCORY BAY responded well and was a convincing winner.

Jockey Jye McNeil was strong in  his praise for the horse "My horse gave chase really well and while he did some things wrong he was too good.  With a little bit more education he will go through the grades really well.  Take nothing away from his win today, it was a great effort".

McNeil's comments were echoed by co-trainer Glenn Thompson "We have always had big expectations of him and it was great to see him get his win today.  The further he goes the better.  He has been a slow learener but it is onwards and upwards from here".

BANCORY BAY was a $360,000 purchase for PR Thoroughbreds at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
