Promising 3yo gelding VACILLATION (Snitzel x Indecision) left it late to claim his maiden win at Geelong on Friday 13 December but the manner of his win left his admirers with no doubt that there is more in store for this stylish galloper.
Away smartly from Barrier 2 INDECISION was quickly into stride for rider Daniel Stackhouse and he was very keen to press forward. The Waterhouse and Bott trained JUSTICE SERVED though was determined to lead and he was driven to the front from his inside barrier. While still learning his trade VACILLATION over-raced for about 400m but once the pace was put into the race by JUSTICE SERVED he settled down into a really good rhythm. Spotting the leader over 6 lengths with 600m left to run the challenge was there for VACILLATION to do the chasing. The margin was gradually reduced as they raced down the straight and VACILLATION continued to cut into the lead. In a driving finish VACILLATION got his head down on the line to win decisively.
Having done all the work to chase down the tearaway leader this was a good win for the Easter Yearling Sale graduate. Stackhouse commented after the win "He is a promising horse. He is still doing a lot wrong but as he learns he will continue to improve".
